Friday Back and Bis and Calves

We scored a cool new kids toy yesterday. When we got to the gym, they said Happy Birthday, Mai - here's your present ~ they proceeded to give us the play house that the door broke off of. The maintenace guy told the girls they had to throw it away and Rachel knew that Mai loves to play in it, so I came home with it!

HAPPY 3RD BIRTHDAY, MAI!!!!!

What a blast these last 3 years have been with Mai Ruth. She's been a smiling crackerjack since the day she was born. I've seriously never seen a baby smile from birth, but she sure did!...and a lot! We are so blessed to have her!! I can't believe that picture at the top was 20 days before she was born. I sure had a different (ie: fit and healthy) pregnancy than I did with Jack. I was just looking at my 2 month post-partum pics (I think I was 5 weeks into a new BFL Challenge) and I'm blown away at how I looked. I can't believe I was so dissatisfied with my results at the time.

So my baby isn't a baby anymore. We've been officially out of the diaper/pullups stage for several months so my life is looking pretty bright and shiny right now. Since we took Jack to a movie for his birthday last week, I asked her last night what she wanted to do for her birthday and she said she's a big girl now that she's three, so today instead of going to the Kids' club she'll work out her muscles with me at the gym. Good little fitness girl in the making!! She calls herself a tough chick.

a.m. workout was 45 minutes of interval cardio on an empty tummy. Back later to report my Back and Bi and Calves workout.

Sunday's Back and Biceps

Mai Luva Luva Loves to wear these shoes on the hardwoods to drive her daddy bonkers. I'm a shade better in walking in them than her...a shade...

Trace competes (and some other friends) in Vegas this weekend. I am SO excited for them. I can't wait for pics to come out. I know I'll be following along on the internet this weekend.

Today is a rest day. Started some great housecleaning yesterday - kind of got on a roll - so after work, this afternoon will be all about the house again. Went up to the store for storage containers so I can finally get the kids room organized so they have room to play in there. Found a cheap (but AWESOME! according to Jack) little tackle box for him to keep all his misc legos in. We are constantly finding them all over the house and not sure which box they go to, so now we have a place (finally) for them to go and my mantel and entertainment center won't be covered with them. Oh boy, I better stop here...way too boring and I could go on and on with what I have to get done...

SUNDAY JULY 22

Cardio 25 minutes. I love the new Precor 100i Ellipticals my gym just got. It senses when you change your footing - like if I keep my heels down flat, I'm doing like a stair stepper, if I start to get lazy and lift my heels, it takes me into a totally different stride. VERY NICE feel to them, too - smoooooooooth.

Saturday July 21 C/S/T

Michelle Anderson 8 months after having her 3rd child!! Hoorah for her!!!

Had a great time at church. Jack moved up into the Kindergarten class at Promiseland so he was excited to be upstairs with the big kids now. He got a HUGE goodie bag of candy and toys. Mai moved up into the 3 year olds and so she got some fun stuff, too. A Jesus Christ candy bracelet, which she inhaled in less than a minute - Cross and all. It's like a rosary that you get to eat. ??? Who thinks these things up? So all sugared up at 7:30 at night, I decided to drop by a new park to work off some of their energy. Ended up missing a meal because of it, but still got in six yesterday. But anyways, church was awesome (as usual!). Wish Steve had gone with us last night. It was the first in a series on patience and the music was SUPERB last night. A couple songs in particular. I love the way our band does Show Me Your Ways. They also did a real jazzy number. Very good for my soul.

Today was just going to be cardio but I'm feeling AWESOME so I think I'll go ahead and pump out back and bis since I have the opportunity schedule wise. Off to the gym...

12 Weeks Out - pics

Mai and I were practicing walking in our heels, so we decided to take a few 12 week out pictures, too. I'm not going to freak about how soon 12 weeks is, but I'm freaking. Everytime I see someone else's blog about being 12 or 14 or even 16 weeks out, they are in much different shape than this. I refuse to post bare belly pics at this point, but decided that maybe my back would be a good comparison shot every couple of weeks. 1) I need to practice my posing for a real figure pose for my back, but I'll throw in one of these every time, too. 2) My back is like a shar pei (or so my husband says). His favorite thing to do is take handfuls of my back into his hands and make comments about how incredible it is, how amazing I am actually. haha. real funny. So I think my back will show a huge difference as the fat melts off. Today was 45 minutes of intervals for cardio. Oh...and the hair...I'm back to daily showers but only washing my hair when absolutely necessary. It's only going to get worse as I start spending more time at the gym. Today I decided that it could go one more day...um? maybe 5 days now?...if I would wear make-up...so I put on some mascara and called it good. Hopefully I'll have this under control by the time my kids care what their friends think.

Signing off,
Julie ~ the only figure competitor to ever be compared to a shar pei.http://www.lasharpei.com/

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY JACK!! I LOVE YOU!!!

HAPPY 5TH BIRTHDAY, JACK!!! I love you!!! Wow! I cannot believe I've had him for 5 years already. What a chunk he used to be! Well, I just spent way too much time uploading pictures and they ended up not being in the right order and some aren't even pictures I wanted to post, but here it is. He's a keeper! What a sweet baby I was given. I wish my memories of the first two years weren't so foggy, but at least I have a bazillion pictures of him :o)

Hit the gym at 4:30 this morning with plans of doing both Legs and Cardio but I did not get enough sleep at all, so I just gave my all to my legs and will do cardio tomorrow. I'm taking the kids to see Ratatouille tonight for Jack's birthday. It will be Mai's first theater experience. Being the non-stop talker that she is, I know I'm in for a huge headache...but I know we'll have a lot of fun!

Back and Bis

Poor Jack threw up right before we headed out the door to the gym, so we waited awhile to get him settled in and then left him home with Dad. Mai and I got it done and we're back home now on a very rainy, dark, cloudy depressing day. Guess I'll make the most of it and ignore the housework and curl up with a blanket and my baby boy and my bible study books and the mystery novel I started in Sunriver.

More Vacation Pics

Some of the highlights of the vacation. We spent some time out at the stables roping "cows" and riding ponies...Mai's favorite day, I think. We also made a trip into the village several times for icecream - they enjoyed one with Grandma Gloria on this particular day. We also had some fun in a bouncy structure at several locations. I love this pic of my in-laws using each other as back rests at the Wednesday night music at the golf course. This is always one of my favorite things to do. The kids get to run around like crazy playing frisbee and tag and catch on the golf course while the adults sit back and enjoy wine and snacks and listen to music. This year was Dirty Martini. They were ok, enjoyable, but a bit boring. The next night we listened to some Jazz and Reggae in the village and it was terrific!

Tuesday June 12

45 minutes of intervals on stepmill today. That's it.
Looooong day at work...well, it will be by the time I get done. Listening to comedy while I work and snorting and hooting so loud that I can't answer the phone for fear of giggling hysterically like I did earlier this morning ~ Poor lady must have been so confused by me. Today's comedy clip will be funny to my Catholic like me...maybe not so much to anyone else. I related.

First workouts post vacation

Maybe it's just because I'm a bit of a prude, but I think it's so odd when I see women in the locker room sitting with their naked butts on the bench talking (forever...) on a cell phone with THEIR SUNGLASSES ON???

Sunriver

Spongebob was a hit! It took two go-throughs with all the cousins (including 3 pre-teens with good arms) before we finally broke down and pulled the string to get to the candy. That Spongebob Toughie-Pants can sure take a beating. Jack decorated their birthday cake himself and was very proud of it. Cooking birthday cake/dinner/etc for 20 people in 100+ degree weather was a bit much for me, but I survived...barely. The whole trip was terrific. The house was nice and newly decorated, however, slate floors on a frigid morning are cooooooold. The weather was PERFECTO!! We saw lots and lots of dear - mamas, daddies and cute babies. One of these pics you can see Mai trying to walk up to a mama deer. Went on a hike at Benham Falls and saw a Blue Heron? and baby Ospries - more pics later.

My dad got a little exercise packing Cousin Nathan on his back. Li'l Nathan was sick the whole time - talked to mom the day after they left and said the doctor diagnosed him with hand, foot and mouth disease and it's very contagious. Guess what...next day, both my kids had it. Hoping the others didn't get it, but I'm pretty sure they did/will. Didn't slow Jack and Mai down much, though. Bike riders, they are! It was really good for Jack to be able to practice. We live on a hill so he doesn't get to ride as much as he would like - so he was in heaven at our Sunriver circle.

Vacation

Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world.
~ Ada Louise Huxtable

We're off on our annual Sunvriver Family Vacation. Both Steve's family and my family get together in two houses and just RELAX! Most days you'll catch us waking up earlier than usual to about 32-40 degree temps and keeping warm by bundling up and drinking coffee out on the porch while trying to catch sight of some early morning visitors like coyotes, deer, raccoons and chipmunks. Then it's off for golfing or a leasurely bike ride around the trails...maybe out to the stables or the airport. Then we head to The Village for some shopping or an icecream or yet more coffee and then to the pool. By this time it's probably reached around 100 degrees and the pool will keep us entertained for some time. We head back home for a nap and then another bike ride or walks or outdoor games like badminton or horseshoes or tossing the football around and then we shower up and head to one or the other house for dinner and drinks and hot tubbing and playing board games long past the children fall asleep - which they do...with no trouble whatsoever because they are completely wiped out. We finally all fall into bed and wake the next morning to start it all over again. It is my favorite time of the year.

Adios.
