After a 45 minute ride with her, I headed out by myself and decided to hit up Suck Hill (why do I call it Suck Hill??... BECAUSE IT SUCKS!) to see just how badly out of bike riding shape I've gotten.
I made it to the top by sheer will power, it took me another mile to catch my breath. It's 1/3 of a mile long and it is where I'll do hill repeats when I need to ride close to home. It's hard to tell from the picture but if you click on it you can see a white car turning out into traffic and that is where the hill starts and then heads on up.
I dropped my chain once and I remembered I need new brake pads shortly before arriving at an unexpected stop sign while traveling approximately 35 mph and scaring poop out of me.
I couldn't get my bike computer to work, so I have no idea how far I went, but I did ride for 45 minutes.
It was enough time to remind me that the next 5 months are going to be
I arrived at my (hilly) street and was about to hop off and walk the bike up when my good neighbor, Larry, popped out of nowhere from doing yardwork and as always cheered me on up the hill. I
Here's a picture of the boy...
I'm only showing this to you to prove he is still alive and to illustrate why there are so few pictures of him on this blog. This is what I get when I point a camera at him.
Heading off to a girls night/jewelry party and I'm quite sad, because it is the night before our first team run and I would rather drink wine and chat it up all night, but I must not. Wish me luck on staying good and getting to bed early ;-)

Hi Julie! That hill looks tough! I'm so jealous you have no snow and can ride a bike outside!! I'm excited that you started your official training though :) I've only ran 7 miles in the past 2 1/2 weeks, ugh!
Hope you have a good group training session today!
Way to go on the hills!! :) I hope you had a great night with the girls and a fabulous training session today! Have a great weekend! :)
Woohoo, way to rock Suck Hill! There is a similar hill near me that comes about mile 3 into my run. I used to love to run that a few times...when I was in shape. Look forward to doing that again one day soon...thanks for the inspiration! :) Happy Weekend..and hope you had fun at the party!
I love that your kid does tris! She looks so happy!
your kids are adorable. love that you have a little triathlete!! too awesome.
Whew, that looks like a mother of a hill. The masochistic part of me loves hill workouts. But there's no part of me that enjoys dropped chains. What a momentum suck!
I'm loving the pictures of those adorable kids! :)
I'm really loving your blog :-) Is "Suck Hill" 65th in Tualatin or that area? It sure looks like it. If not, where is it? I need to do some hills for Boston and my training has sucked so it would be appropriate. I have some more suck hills in Wilsonville if you're interested.
Look at your cute little triathlete! Awesome! Ugg...looks like this hills sucks.
Just found this post! Where have I been? She is sooo cute! makes me (almost) want another kid- but it would end up being a boy.lol.
That is a STEEP hill!
