Housework Rules!!

A real woman always keeps her house clean and organized, the laundry basket is always empty. She's always well dressed, hair done. She never swears and behaves gracefully in all situations and under all circumstances. She has more than enough patience to take care of her family, always has a smile on her face, and a kind word for everyone. Post this in your status if you too suspect that you might be a man.
HA! My friend posted this as her facebook status today and I couldn't help myself. WOW!...I am the first to admit I am not big on housekeeping and when tri season is in full swing, I do my best to make sure everyone has clean underwear - even if I'm not sure which pile it is in - and that my own workout clothes are clean and easily accessible... but that is about it.
Yesterday was just one of those days where I realized I need three of me...or better yet, three of a SuperMe. After feeling like I should be awarded SUCKY MOM OF THE YEAR award for not being on the ball and signing up Jack early enough to get onto a baseball team, I've spent the last two weeks trying to find another league that would accept him at this late date. I finally found out yesterday that he was on a team and that he had practice in an hour and he needed a cup. So much for my weight sesh and sorry Ki...no dog walk for you - we're off to go shopping for a cup. WHAT? Mai had a blast walking around Sports Authority telling people we were looking for a cover for her brother's penis. Yes...she said penis out loud about 30 times.

Cup in place, we headed to Jack's first practice and I found out that Saturday just got a lot busier...for someone. I've been pretty stressed out about Saturday because I have a 70 mile bike ride in Salem (the day before my very first Half Marathon*) and Steve wanted to be in Eugene for the Duck's practice game...and Mai has a soccer game...and I need to be down in Eugene by 5pm for the OBC (Oregon Blogger Connection :-) meet-up. Things were not looking good for my ice bath this weekend with that kind of time shortage...even with a wonderful mom who is picking up my race packet for me...and then I found out we just added a baseball game to the mix.
Oh. My.

Husband stepped up to take the hit for the day. No game for him...but the three of us get OUR sports in.
Whatta man, whatta man, whatta mighty good man! Yes, he is!
So ...this half marathon. Coach says it's an L1 LSD run. So...if I play by his rules, I'll be able to crush my PR in my next 1/2 marathon, right?
*My very first race ever was a marathon. Followed it with another marathon. Moved down to a 25k. Threw in a couple seasons of triathlon. Tried my hand at a 15k. Moved on down to a 4 miler and a 6k. Finally did my first 5k last month and this seems like one of the last distances left. At least I'm moving back up in the right direction :-)
I also just realized that I never ran a race in April for The Run For The Bling Of It Challenge...so I guess I'll count the Eugene Half on May 1st as my April run...and start looking for something else I can do in May as well.

I love this post! To be honest...the word penis makes me giggle. It has the same immaturity factor as fart.

I am always amazed that parents like you with little ones can do all you do. It's hard enough without training. I guess it's about trying to create balance and being flexible.

I'm impressed.

I posted that on our refrigerator, just as a gentle reminder to my wife of what I expect. Either she's taking it to heart or she hasn't seen it seen it yet, not sure.

I was waiting for my son to come out of preschool one day and my daughter looks up at me and loudly announces "Spud has a penis! I have a 'gina!"

It was around other parents, so we all had a good laugh, but I'm sure I'll be embarrassed in public before long.

Your husband sounds amazing.

I am feeling your weekend sports pain. We have 3 lacrosse games this weekend. My H is around for one, but then it is all me. All the while trying to figure out how I will get my runs in. Might be some late nights on the treadmill. Good luck this weekend. You are going to do great.

You sound plenty 'real' in the womanliness dept to me. : )

Don't you hate when life gets in the way of training and racing? ; )

You're handling it like a superstar. And before her first lacrosse season, my daughter asked if she needed a cup to play (she has a big brother!). Kids are great.

I'll admit that with all the juggling I do that sometimes housework is the first thing that gets put off. :)

Every time I hope on your blog I hear the Ellie character's voice (from Up) say, "Adventure is out there!" Love it!

Your hubbs rocks! So impressed that you are able to squeeze it all in.

My little guy is learning to use the potty. Body part conversation runs rampant in our house.

You are going to ride 70m and then do a half THE NEXT DAY? (In possibly clean underwear.)
