Oh, How He Loves Us

Happy Birthday to my beautiful cousin, Michael. We all miss you so very very much.

In the last weeks of Michael's life, as he sat in the hospital fighting cancer, my cousin Brian would spend hours with him, just sitting, or talking, or playing guitar and singing. One song that Michael kept requesting was How He Loves. It had a very important message that Michael reiterated over and over again with different people who visited him. This was that message:

Tears roll down my face today as I listen to this song that was so important to Michael.
Enjoy...and know how much He loves us all...

He is jealous for me
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy
When all of a sudden
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory
And I realize just how beautiful You are
And how great Your affections are for me

And Oh how He loves us
Oh, Oh how He loves us
How He loves us all

Yeah He loves us
Oh how He loves us
Oh how He loves us
Oh how He loves

We are His portion and He is our prize
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes
If grace is an ocean, we're all sinking
So Heaven meets earth like an unforeseen kiss
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest
I don't have time to maintain these regrets
When I think about the way

And Oh how He loves us
Oh, Oh how He loves us
How He loves us all

I can't see the video, but I know the sound well from Jesus Culture. I'm sorry for your loss and there is no words that can truly comfort death. But if he and you are a believer that will be enough said on that. GB ! GOD SPEED.

Wonderful for you to still celebrate his birthday today. My thoughts are with you and your family. I know it's even more difficult at times like this.

Can't get through that song without crying... picturing God with His arms wrapped tightly around my brother (battling cancer - actually not fighting anymore). Tightly around me. Holding onto the truth that He loves us more than anything. Love love love Him and love that song!!

Absolutely LOVE that song. David Crowder is a favorite band of mine and the lyrics are just what we ALL need to know.
Sorry for you and Michael's family at this birthday time. Hoping His peace washes over you.

I love that song too. We play it at our church. My favorite line is "all of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory".

I recently lost a friend to cancer and as I sit hear listening to the video you posted, I have tears running down my face thinking of my friend and his family.

Oh, Julie, this is a wonderful tribute to your cousin. We sing that song at church, too. So powerful. Knowing that someone we love is in a better place is a comfort, but it doesn't make losing them any less painful. Thinking of you and Michael.
