The Family That Slips And Slides Together...

Remember this most awesome slip 'n slide my dad put together for our Family Camp Out Last Year?
Where little girls rode down with their chickens...

...and the little kids played hard...
...and the big kids too...

Well, my parents dropped off part of the most awesome slide at our house the other day and now we're in slip 'n slide heaven in our own back yard...

My training has been hit and miss since Pac Crest. I took the week off completely after the race. I've lifted weights once, ran two miles twice, did the epic 83 mile bike ride, and last night went for an open water swim at my new favorite swimming hole - Clackamette Cove - with friends. We thought it might be pretty frigid since it's the river, but it was surprisingly pleasant and we'll probably be meeting up there once a week all summer. It's nice to not have such a full training schedule and to just do what I feel like doing...however, I just received notice from the library that the book
that Kim recommended is in and waiting for me. My plan is to focus on my running right now. I really loved doing my first 1/2 marathon this year and I think that it may be "my" distance. Unless I get totally caught up in something crazy, I would really like to focus on the 1/2 marathon distance and the OLYMPIC triathlon distance and see if I can't be more competitive.

What is YOUR race? Which distance or sport do you feel at your best?

Hilariously fun slip n slide!
Hang on for a wild ride with RLRF. As much as they hurt, 5ks are what I'm best at.

I don't know that I've found my favorite distance yet, although I loved my marathon training this year. What's the distance on that slip n slide? I could like that distance!

I have always said half marathons were my favorite but I loved that 10 miler two weeks ago. Trouble is there aren't many of them.

I WANT that slip and slide! SO fun!!!! My distance is the marathon although I questioned that after my recent "flop". I am liking the short distance a little more and actually the distance I currently find the MOST stressful is the half marathon as it's the only one that McMillan seems to have me beat in:) Have a great weekend!

A) Can you adopt me so I can partake in the most fantastic slip and slide of all time?
B) I guess that the half-marathon is my distance. Mentally I feel like they are no more difficult than a 10k and speed-wise I am disproportionally less slow at 13.1s than distances both shorter and longer.

I guess taking a chicken down a slip and slide is better than taking a cat down a slip and slide. HA!

I've haven't really found "my distance" yet. I'm still working on figuring that one out. I know probably shorter vs. longer for me.....but I am thinking about a 70.3 next summer....we shall see.

Love the pics!! Slip - n- slide is the best!!

I loved RLRF-you do get faster--I just sucked at the cross training! :/

I am focusing on halfs this year...the off season (fall) for my hubs allows me to spend a lil more time with him ,but if I am training for a marathon, then i get obsessive!

I just started that book and it is tough...good luck!

The half is my favorite distance.

p.s. - that looks like the most awesome/professional slip and slide ever!!

Looks like fun:))
Hmmm....I'm still trying to find out if I even HAVE a distance. I have ran everything but a full marathon....maybe I should do that next.
And then my first OLY is this weekend......maybe THAT will be it?
One day I'll figure it out;))

That slip and slide would cover my entire back yard...and probably my neigbors - that is awesome!!! That would be a total blast to do daily!

Personally, I love the marathon ... and miss it greatly!!

Last year I was all about the 5K. I was setting PRs all the time. Then this year I upgraded to the half. It is still hard for me.... but I LOVE it! I did a 15K this year, that left me thinking that really we could have just run 4 more miles and it would be a half. So that distance didn't leave me feeling satisfied.

That is like the ultimate slip & slide!!
