L.A.D.

Long @$$ day. Whoa baby. If this is what I've signed up for, I'm in trouble. Mama ain't used to this kind of busy. After working all morning, I had my practical interview today. It went really good. I traded in my pink mini for all black today, but I wore happy socks, my favorite cap and hoop earrings. I figure if they don't like it, I don't need to be working there. At the end of the workout I put the interviewer through, she told me I did great, that she liked me, and she especially liked my "bubbliness". HA! Who knew I had it in me?
Mai can't take a non-blurry picture to save her life...
But there, I tried. Seriously...my family doesn't take pictures of me as we go through our days, so this is what I've got :p

After the interview, I spent the entire afternoon walking through neighborhoods and plastering my boot camp flyers to everyone's door. I've been doing this for a week now. I've probably walked over 2 marathons in that time. It's so weird going on to other people's property. The smells can be so strange. Old people have the most distinct smelling houses. I never knew how many people loved their pets so much that they actually put stickers on their front door instructing firemen how many pets and of which variety they are supposed to be saving. More people than I imagined are on oxygen. They actually put up signs on their front door "No Smoking!! I'm on oxygen!". I'm amazed how many people keep such a nice yard. I'm surprised how many people will actually come out to greet me if they see me heading their way.

On my final neighborhood, I parked, headed out and tried to remember as I went, which way I turned as I switched from street to street in this unknown territory. The wind picked up mightily and I thought to myself, this is kind of silly - the wind is going to whisk those flyers right off down the road. I continued this weird and winding path, undaunted as dusk slowly disappeared and the rain started to pitter patter and then came down in a full blown pour. I finally realized that I was now in real darkness with no idea where I parked my car. Hrmph. I made my way back - memory by memory...ok, that's where the lady scowled at me through her window, hmmm...there's where that nice guy pretended he was interested and said he would show up to class on Monday at 6am, there's where I tripped on my own big feet and fell on my face in front of that guy mowing his lawn. Eventually I found my way back and headed home, sopping wet and glad that I only have two more days of this.

Steve bought dry ice for the kids to play with...

And now....after that L.A.D...I'm sipping on a glass of wine while I listen to the squeals of two little girls that we banned to below the house. Literally...we sent them under the house to see what kind of rats and bats they might find. They're loving it.

Yay for the practical! I bet you were wonderful :) That is so awesome you are putting out flyers and LOVE the analogies of the houses. Praying for your success and still wish I could come :(

Sounds like someone has you figured out! Bubbly = Julie (with wine?)

I try to greet people coming to my door too- IT seems courteous, but really, that way they can't get a peek inside. ha.

I am very interested to see what they find under the house :)

Nice ice, J!

Those practical exams are really nerve-racking, I think - good job getting that done and doing it so well!

I hope you have a very successful bootcamp on Monday. Maybe you need to do an online bootcamp, for us less fortunate enough to live in Portland? :)

Getting caught in the rain, a long way from where you need to be is never fun ... but I would really like to hear you make he sound "Hrmph" ... that cracked me up for some reason! Have a great weekend.

Oh that does sound like a LAD. So glad you found your car and you are not currently roaming the rainy streets! So wish I lived close so I could do your boot camp. I like Jill's idea of doing an online one! Not that I can do it right now, but I could in a month or so!

Nice legs mama:) So glad to hear the practical went well!

I've never had anyone but a Real Estate agent and Jehovah's witness's come into my yard (remote). Caught mowing the lawn topless actually. I can't remember if I greeted them or not.....

You deserve that wine:)

Good luck with the boot camp! I am with Raina if I can meet someone at the door they can't see what a wreck it is most of the time!

Yep a L.A.D for sure! I hope things turn out good for you....on the other hand if you are too successful you might not have time to post here and that would be sad...ok I'm being selfish. I'll stop. Keeping my fingers crossed for you. I wish I was close enough to do bootcamp.

I just learned of a new media tool that might help you, its called Meet Up, you enter in your information of your class and people in the vicinity can view it, I used it for cycling events and I was surprised on the out come, its worth a shot to at least look into it to see if it can benefit your business

Congrats on the second part of the interview
