Vegas Is For Reading Bibles and Bed Hopping

When you are in high school, you are very lucky if you find even just one friend that gets you. Totally gets you. Or doesn't always get you, but loves you despite that other stuff.
They make you laugh and they make you cry and they remain friends even after the simple days of childhood leave you...
Holy hairdo.
and the wild stuff begins.

Always willing to go camping with you even though she's more of a "city girl"...
I think that case of Hamms in the bottom of the picture helped.

Drags you to Mexico in little house on the prairie dresses to go drinking and dancing...
THAT was a long day!

Makes regular trips to Vegas with you to read the bible...

and bed hop...
What did you think I meant??
and then grows old with you...on the stoop...just talking...and being together...
And today, I've set a date to go visit this great friend of mine in July down in SoCal.
July can't get here soon enough.
So - I don't travel much. Where's the best place to get great deals on flights?

Also...did you see that The SockDoc called me "hard core" over at misszippy's today? But...I don't think he was saying it in a positive manner (hmph!). In fact, today I thought at about mile 3 that I should stop at mile 5 due to my ankle (and butt) hurting and thought to myself, "well, Julie, that is very smart of you". Then I thought about Alex and all that he's going through with his new diagnosis of Leukemia and I said to myself "Don't be a quitter. Alex can't quit. Neither should you". So you see...it's not that I don't want to rest and let my injury heal, it's that I have promised to do this race and raise money for the LLS and until I accomplish that, there is a huge problem with me resting (my mind calls it quitting). HOWEVER...I am taking The SockDoc's advice under advisement.

I used my first iPhone app today. Well, it's not the first one to be put on my phone, because I see that some young child had already added a fart app - but it was MY first app ~ Nike+GPS. I used it on my 7 miler today and it tracked the mileage magnificently but it said I maintained a 10:00m/m pace...and that just must be wrong ;P
Does anyone else use Nike+GPS. Do you like it or is there something better out there I should be trying to find?

Ha, ha--I was laughing at your comment back to him on my post. You're doing a good thing, so yes, don't quit. But after...trust him, he really does know his stuff!

I always fly Southwest whenever possible. The best prices and service--free bag check! Sounds like a great time.

If you are lucky enough, this summer we are actually going to have a summer in SoCal and you can add beach hopping to your hobbies! I use kayak and orbitz to find tickets. They work well most of the time. And runkeeper on my iphone. I found it quite accurate the couple of times I compared it to my garmin.

Nice 7 miler! I don't even know how to put apps on my Droid, that's what my children and husband are here for!

How fun that you get to go visit your friend!!
You can go on Kayak.com to find the cheapest flights, or just wait for a special from Southwest...they always have the best deals!

I don't have the Nike+GPS on my phone... but I DO have the fart app.

So awesome that you are going to see your good friend :)

For flight stuff, I often check expedia.com and then go directly to the cheapest airlines own website. I find that it is often less. But I know there are a number of sites for super cheap tix... I just never seem to be able to find them when I want them :P

I am a southwest girl. they really do have the best prices.
I don't know if the Nike app is accurate. I have heard it isn't. i stick to my garmin.

You most certianly are hardcore...in a good way, but don't hurt yourself. You are not quitting.

I agree 100% with the “don’t quit” but do take care and still listen to your body. I really enjoyed the post about your friend. Mainly because in my life I only had one friend like that. He now lives in London, UK. Last year he came to SA and we had a chance to meet after nearly 30 years. We carried on chatting where we left off 30 years ago. It was awesome.

Awesome. What a friendship! That's going to be some trip. :)

I don't find the iPhone GPS apps to be very accurate at all, especially on paces, but just in general it seems to miss a lot. I've gone to just using the stopwatch function on mine on known distances.

Awww, love that about you and your friend. I have a similar one in Iowa and I so need to go back and see her this summer!!

I've had a few (hundred) emails to the Sock Doc...he's been about the only one spot-on with my heel. Too bad I can't afford to go out there and have him work his magic!!! Wowzie is he expensive!

Nothing beats a friend like that! You're very lucky:)

This week has been a gong show, so I like it when I read your Mondays post and your week sounds CRAZY too.... Tomorrow is Friday! WOOT!!

I got a chuckle out of his answer to your question--and your reply back to him. :)

Your friend sounds awesome. Can I borrow her? All of mine have gotten old and lame. LOL

Aww what a sweet post! I love my best friend. We just ran our first marathons together. I recommend kayak.com

I use that Nike ipod app too. It's good, but not 100% accurate. I just can't bring myself to spend a ton of money on a Garmin...probably will happen soon though.

I'm off to Miss Zippy's blog to read about the doc's comments.

Great post! The pics are awesome - love the Vegas bible pic! haha

As for plane flights, I like Kayak.com the best. But expedia and orbitz are good too. Make sure to also check Southwest and Virgin America separately, I don't think they are listed on those sites above.
