INKnBURN Review

Hello people!! If you are in Portland today, Hello SUNSHINE!! What a great day to race - but first I want to do a review of some lovely sporting clothes. I contacted INKnBURN a few months ago to see if they would be willing to donate an item from their line to my on-line fundraiser for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Keira Henninger responded with a VERY quick YES! and said she had noticed on my TNT Page that I run in Nike Shorts and thought that I might like to try one of INKnBURN's running skirts. Well...I'm WAY over my Nike shorts and have been running in mostly skirts or capris for a while now, so I said I would love to try some out. Not only did she send me this beauty...

...but also a tank!
I'll start with the skirt first. So, my first impression was C.U.T.E. I especially loved the undershorts...

My next favorite part of the skirt was the feeling as soon as I slid this skirt on. It was that immediate feeling of "THE" right fit. I'm definitely an apple shape, so lots of times running skirts will either not come up high enough to "hold" my tummy (instead they uncomfortably cut it in half) or they will slide down. This skirt does neither of these things. It is SO flattering on me that I cannot help but wear it ALL.THE.TIME!  I wouldn't say the waistband comes up too high, but just at the right spot on me. It can also be rolled over for a shorter style waistband.

The skirt is not too short, and in fact I think the back end seems a little longer than the front - but I've only noticed that while doing squats and it is not noticeable otherwise. The bootie shorts are not long by any means, but I use body glide on my thighs regardless, so that has not been a problem, but if you are one of those people that likes your undershorts longer and with grip, these are not those kind of shorts. I do not feel them bunching up, though - they are a complete non issue as I don't even realize they are there...except when I show them off to people, which I do all the time :p

This skirt has been worn a lot. It's been washed a lot. The material and shape has held up well and they smell great. TMI? Well...this is a huge issue with me. I hate when my workout clothes start to stink and whether it is this particular skirts design/material or the awesome Tide Sport that Kim turned me on to, it smells like nothing....the way it should be!

I cannot tell you how many compliments I've received on this skirt. EVERYONE loves it! I've biked in it, I've run in it, I've taught bootcamp in it, I pick up my kids from school in it and I grocery shop in it. I've also drank wine in it, run the Eugene Half Marathon in it, and eaten a donut in it. Is is obviously quite versatile.

On to the tank. I love tanks.  I prefer to workout in tanks but I have this glorious old age (and a few pounds too many on this body) problem and so I often opt for short sleeves to hide the dreaded fat hunk caused by my sports bra around my armpits for the start of the season and then by the time summer hits, I try to find tanks that are flattering. They are definitely out there and this tank fit the bill. I ordered a large because my back is pretty broad and also because medium tanks usually fit pretty tight around the waist and my "apple" doesn't like to be hugged that tightly. I probably should have gone for the medium as the bra part of the tank just doesn't give me enough support to run in on it's own. I can bike in it sans extra bra and I LOVE it. I think these tanks are actually tailored to give some nice support in the boobage area and then are a little looser draping around the midsection and I totally appreciate that! So I have worn it on the bike and it has a great little bra pocket for gels or keys or whatever (LOVE!) and for running I will add a sports bra underneath for extra support.

I was hoping to have a great picture from Eugene with me in my cute skirt but I was so fast they couldn't catch me on film. I also don't have a great picture of me in the cami, but here's proof I wear it :D
I can't say enough about INKnBURN. They were totally NICE, helpful, supportive and speedy! Check them out - their designs are outrageously fun!

So...the race...the first race of the season. I ran into a friend at REI yesterday and he was super nervous about an open water swim he was doing early this morning so as soon as I woke up around 5:30am, I sent him a text wishing him well and he sent this picture back to me from his drive over the bridge into Washington (we were both heading up to Vancouver)...

...and I immediately knew that I was blessed to have this glorious day for my first race day of the season. So...I will tell you now that I really had no plans to finish my third leg today. If I was to run at all, it would be for only a mile or two (my heel has been THAT bad), but since I've run out of time to talk about my race until tomorrow...I will just let you know that (obviously) I survived my first open water swim of the season and I also ran the FULL distance of Leg 3 =D and it all started with a little bit of sunbathing...

More on this race tomorrow....after my 50-70 mile Mothers Day bike ride...

Having seen the skirt in person, I must say that it is AWESOME. I really like the design..and now I want to try one too! Those legs would look great in anything though. :)

Sorry about the heel- hoping that it's on the mend since you ran the full leg. Can't wait to hear more about your race!

I love their stuff. The skirts always looked a little short so I'm happy to hear they don't give that showing too much feeling. And the designed are so cute!

Can't wait to hear about your race!

I would love to get one of their running skirts! You're a really great spokesman by the way! Even though I'm a size 6/8, since I have tree trunks for legs, my thighs sometimes rub so I worry about the shorts under the skirt riding up?? Hmm, maybe I should just try an pair and see how it goes!!

Anyway, way to go on the swim! Sounds like you and I spend our time in much the same way these days :)
