New Kicks

So...Dr. Jennifer said that she wants me to go on a couple of short runs this week and if my legs feel good, then she's going to discharge my chart. I'm sure gonna miss those leg massages :-(

She thought I might try something different this time around and go more the "barefoot" route in shoe wear - either Vibrams...
...and I really really wanted these pink and orange ones... but I'm still too nervous that they won't be what I'm looking for...

Or Evos...but at $160,  I was way scared to make such a commitment...
Green Evo

so I went with the Nike Frees...

After trying on every single brand of shoe in the store, it became apparent that they are ALL too high in the achilles support for me. My ankles were aching just trying on shoes. The Nike Frees don't come up nearly as high and the backs are super flexible, so they don't hurt. Check out how flexible they are...

I went for my first run in them today - only a mile, but hey! no pain!...at least in my ankles. I did have some left shin pain towards the end and really had to stretch out both shins good when I was done, but I expected that...as they've still been super tight at every visit. I just need to keep s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-gggggggggg........

Love the new shoes!!! I don't know if I could wear the first pair - having individual toes just makes more places to rub and blister!!!

Glad you had a good run but sorry you'll be losing this great doc. You should book yourself in for regular massage though Julie - your body deserves it! I try to go once or twice a month for a full hour, full body.

Think of it as "maintenance" and part of your training program for when you strap on the cycle shoes and swim cap!!!
