Memphis Mafia

Not much to say about my ride today. It was long. It was windy. It was hungover. It was undernourished. My sitting area thinks 67 miles over two days was a bit much for this early in training.

At about mile 37, I was REALLY hungry, but decided rather than have a gel, I would wait until I got home and would fix myself a nice veggie/fruit and protein packed smoothie or a nice big veggie and turkey stir fry. Instead I arrived home to find this waiting for me...

...it is fried dough with banana chunks and cinnamon sugar covered in a glaze with chocolate frosting, peanut butter, peanuts and chocolate chips on top!

That my friends, is a Memphis Mafia from Voodoo Doughnuts. If you are ever in Portland and do not stop by, you are really missing out.

You will find a line much like this one...

...that wraps around the corner outside of Voodoo on a regular basis.

It is worth the wait.

Although sweet is not my thing, this really did hit the spot today.

Normally I would go for this treasure...

Sweet AND salty, of course.

Fortunately, my family went there without me today and I didn't have to wait in line.
I just had to shovel it in :P

Oh wow...if I ate either of those I would have to bike on a daily basis...at LEAST 50km/day!
Especially the bacon wrap;)

Dawn - I only ate 1/4 of it. It was huge! 1/4 was p.l.e.n.t.y.

WOW. Either of those in front of me would definitely cause me to throw my semi-diet out the window for a day ;)

First - great job on the long ride! Jim loves, loves, loves, donuts and bacon - I think he would love that thing.

I need a Memphis Mafia now! Whenever I've tried to go to voodoo doughnuts, I have no patients to wait in line, so I've never gone. I've eaten other's doughnuts from there and it was delicious! You deserved that hunk o fried dough!

OMG they had voodoo donuts on DDD and it was then I decided I could never live close to there because I would weigh a jillion pounds. Trust me, I could honest to god eat a jillion pounds of bacon donuts.

It's nice to know Portland isn't 100% healthy food/lifestyle. Now I'm in more of a hurry to visit!
