Just A Day In The Sun

I'm starting to get stressed out today and it's only 7am. First...I threw out my back this morning stretching out in bed. This isn't the first time, but it's the first time so close to a race :-(
I just realized that I have a TON of stuff to do this weekend to be ready to leave on vacation and get to race day. Main priority is work that needs to be done, but also topping that list is cleaning my bike and replacing the electrical tape that is being used as a handlebar plug. That kind of forgetfulness will get me disqualified. I also need to find a replacement band for my aerobottle because mine got old and crunchy and broke. That kind of forgetfulness will get me dehydrated.

I'm supposed to go on an 8 mile group run this morning, but I'm not even able to walk properly with my back like this...so as I hash all this stuff out in my mind, here are some pictures of a very unusually sunny day in Portland yesterday. We took full advantage of it, and hope and dream of summer actually arriving for good here in Oregon.

Mai's own sunbathing spot she made for herself...
A little shady reading with the pooch...

Building a reading room/fort underneath the swingset...

Doin' a little dance...

A little water fight action...
And even Mama got a little unexpected surprise after she threatened "the kids" they better not squirt her due to her library book and her phone...

Ended the day with a little taper bike ride with the boy...

Today...it's raining again...
Really?...
ugh.

Oh girl I hope that back is ok!!! That is not fun at all and defiantly adds to the stress...take a deep breath and make a list....then get started...start with a visit to the chiropractor or whatever it takes for the back. Then just check em off one at a time and walla..you will be ready to race...

Oh and I love the no trespassing sign on the bathing spot!

"Stretching out in bed", is that what your husband calls it these days?

Hope you feel better soon--what a bad time to get hurt!

HA! @ Kim's comment. She beat me to it. Stretching indeed...

However it happened, that's NOT COOL. Hope it feels better IMMEDIATELY.

NICE "No trespassing" sign. I definitely need that one for my room;))
As for your "stretching" injury(sorry...couldn't resist after the other comments;)...I find I ALWAYS do something before a big race or event. Always.
And for some reason it always works come race day. Maybe it's a way to get our mind off everything else?
:)
Have a good weekend:)))

Supersoaker fights are awesome! I LOVE her little personal sunbathing space... all fenced off :)

I hope your back loosens up soon... yikes... it is sooo close. Can you get in to see someone who might be able to help?

So funny that I missed out on the whole "stretching" euphemism possibility until it was laid out there for me. I'm disappointed in myself :P

You need to come out here to CO and live, we have sunshine here 345 days/year. Of course we also don't have very green yards...but hey, that's what high water bills are for :).

Hope your back is feeling better...maybe it's just one of those phantom aches you get pre-race and will go away quickly when you get on the road for your trip. At least I hope so!!!

I love your pictures, especially the sunbathing spot. Your kids are really neat kids...and you seem like a great mom.

I hope your back gets feeling better quickly. Sooo stressful to be hurting right before a race. Take deep breaths...you'll get it taken care of.

Girl, I hear you on the bike thing. There's a reason I'm still running next to this kid. And he's so "I can't do it! This is too hard"...WHAT? You're 7. Aren't you supposed to think you're invincible or something? Thank goodness I started running, or he'd never have gotten away from training wheels.

OH NO!! I can't believe you threw your back out so close to the race. I wish you the speediest recovery ever. That totally sounds like something I would do. Hope you are better soon and get everything done you need to get done!

Love the pics of the kids :)Looks like a beautiful day!
