Bad = Good

Confession: I went for my 2nd run in almost a month today. You might remember I had an awesome week of Run Less, Run Faster right before I headed out to SoCal to visit my girlfriend. My left leg was bugging me, but not too badly. Then came a second vacation of camping the following week and then...well...before I knew it, almost a month had come and gone with only one 20 minute run being done. My left leg is obviously messed up. It has been since last Fall. From glute to ankle.
Today I headed out thinking I would do 4 miles, but from the start knew I should keep it to 2 miles today. The good news is that my right leg feels fantastic and fast and strong and I still managed to run a 9:25m/m!!
The bad news is my left leg really hurt the whole time :-(

The GREAT NEWS is that without feeling compelled to run long runs I have had much more time to spend on the river....

Mai had Cousin Katie spend the night last night, so we headed back down to the cove for some swimming. Now we're just waking up and heading to Nectar for some froyo for breakfast. Yum. Summer is good. Very very good.

Fro yo for breakfast? Yes, yes, yes!

Since I haven't run in a week, I'm thinking vaca and time off from running is a good thing.

Fro Yo for breakfast! Your kids must love you! As would I if I were there having breakfast with you. We had it for lunch one day in DC.

I'm thinking, girl, you have a big muscle imbalance! If there is one thing I learned in this whole nightmare with my foot, imbalances cause the vast majority of aches and pains. And there are simple fixes....go to a sports physical therapist and have him test your imbalances!!

Ok, mom hat off. Sorry....I just hate to see easy fixes messing up runner's lives.

If I could, I would eat frozen yogurt for all meals daily!! :)

The pics of the river look really relaxing! Maybe wait until fall to start running after getting some PT as mentioned above.

I was having hip/quad problems and went to see an ART therapist. He is amazing and I am back running again...

Ugh... the leg thing... still trying to sort mine out, too :(

Have you tried ART? I see someone else mentioned it. It has been super helpful for me.

Playing in the water... how fun... :)

Hmmm? Maybe Jill's right and you have a muscle imbalance. I have almost ALL my issues on my right leg. My hip, my hamstring, now my butt. No idea what that's all about.

Yes, summer IS good! Glad you're enjoying it!! The river looks awesome:)

Sorry about the jacked up leg! I have a hunch my whole leg would feel like that if I ran long enough. But I feel like it's originating in the hip.
River looks divine!

I know I'm different which is why I'm commenting on an older post.

You seem full of good news and bad news.

Hope you get that mileage back up there where it should be. I'm sure in order to do that, your leg will need to get better.
